Just about every parent in America has high hopes for their son or daughter when it comes to college athletics and the coveted scholarships they dangle over prospects. These scholarships allow some breathing room financially for the parents (not to mention helping to aid a mid-life crisis allowing fathers to buy that coveted sports car with newly released savings held for college tuition).
So we at the Locker Room decided that parents and high school students alike needed the real scoop on the college recruiting scene.
That's why we featured a college recruitment special ans filmed it at the best place in the city - from the University of Pittsburgh's Hall of Fame Room. We covered recruiting from the coaches' perspective, from the parents, the students, and from different collegiate levels.
We sat down with
University of Pittsburgh's former Recruiting Coordinator
Greg Gattuso,
Geneva College Offensive Line
Coach Leo Wisniewski - a first round draft choice of the Indianapolis Colts from Penn State and father of Pittsburgh Central Catholic's Stefan Wisniewski and PSU bound,
West Allegheny Head Coach Bob Palko - father of Pitt QB Tyler Palko, and
Pitt recruit and Keystone Oaks Linemen Chris "Lumpy" Jacobson.
Each brought a different perspective to the recruitment process.
