Tunch Ilkin in Whirl Magazine
Tunch is in the June issue of Whirl Magazine on page 30 and I'm not - what gives? We were both at the Mel Blount Youth Home's Eighth Annual All-Star Celebrity Roast - what a great benefit - but I didn't make the magazine! I could see having his wife Sharon in the magazine - she's gorgeous - but him? Aren't they in the business of trying to sell more subscriptions? What a big foo foo muckety-muck he is. I wonder what I have to do to get into Whirl or other magazines - maybe I need a good PR man. Wolf

At 9:05 to get ready for a great Memorial Day weekend, Ken Davis author of Don't Know Much About History will discuss how Memorial Day became Memorial Day, when did it originate? And, why do we observe it? He has some cool history of the American Flag that most people don’t know too. Getting back to Joey Porter's surgery and " breaks/broke's," we still can't believe Barbaro's bad break and we've seen some pretty bad breaks in our time such as Joe Theisman's leg, Dave Dravecky, Greg Louganis smacking his head of a diving board. So, who do you think has had the worst break of all time! Any thoughts about American Idol and who will win?
Today WE ARE LIVE from the Andy Russell Golf Tournament at Nevillewood - benefiting the Andy Russell Family Charitable Foundation and the University of Pittsburgh Walter L Bent Fund for prostate cancer research. Some of the folks we hope/plan to talk to today include former Steelers such as the Honorable Dwayne Woodruff, Mel Blount, Jack Ham and Pierre LaRouche - a former Pittsburgh Penguins #1 pick, Stanley Cup Champion and one heck of a golfer who could show these football players a thing or two on the course today!

Pitt vs. Penn State Golf Challenge
On Wednesday, we were honored to have two major college coaching legends In the Locker Room.Pitt's Johnny Majors and Penn State's Jerry Sandusky. We had a ball talking to them about college football and an exciting, worthwhile event that they are spearheading - The Pitt vs. Penn State Golf Challenge to benefit local children's charities. We encourage all Locker Room fans to support this event buy registering to play or help sponsor the event - here are the details! On Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at Chestnut Ridge Inn Golf Resort in Blairsville, Pa. More than 250 area golfers, along with notable University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University sports greats, will raise funds for The Second Mile, a nonprofit organization serving the youth of Pennsylvania by helping them achieve their potential as individuals. In cooperation with The Second Mile, Johnny Majors has also identified for charitable support the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP), administered by the University of Pittsburgh. The program is committed to active participation in sports and education to enable youth from underserved families to enhance the quality of their lives. Honorary Chairmen of the Pitt vs. Penn State Golf Challenge include Sandusky, former defensive football coordinator at Penn State, and Majors, former Pitt football coach. Tournament co-chairman leading the twenty-eight member golf committee are Cliff Benson, Frank Gustine, Jr., Ed Ifft, Robert Lovett, Mike O'Donnell and Tony Perricelli. Shane Conlan and Mike Zordich, team captains from Penn State, and Tony Dorsett and Bill Fralic, team captains from Pitt, will host the tournament with numerous other Pitt and Penn State sports celebrities. They will greet golfers as they tee-off on the two courses, Chestnut Ridge and Tom's Run and help compete for the annual 1st place team trophy. Registration begins at 9 a.m., brunch at 10 a.m. and a dual shotgun tee off is at noon. A 19th hole reception and banquet dinner follows golf. Blue and Gold and Blue and White foursome sponsorships can be obtained by contacting The Second Mile office at 814-237-1719 x 108, or sue@thesecondmile.org. Early sponsorship registration is encouraged to ensure participation. Many thanks to Coach Majors, Coach Sandusky, Highmark Blue Shield for providing financial support and the Univeristy of Pittsburgh for providing financial support to help the thousands of children from Pennsylvania who benefit from The Second Mile’s statewide prevention, early intervention and community-based programs and services. Here is more information about The Second Mile and About NYSP - two great organizations. The Second Mile, founded in 1977, currently serves more than 100,000 children and youth annually throughout Pennsylvania. The inaugural 2005 Pitt vs. Penn State Golf Challenge was the first such event held in Southwestern Pennsylvania to support the organization. The Second Mile will utilize the funds raised from the Golf Challenge to continue and expand services, as well as recruit key leadership, program volunteers and financial support. The twenty-five year old organization serves all Pennsylvania counties and is supported through private sector contributions. Children who are participants in The Second Mile's year-round prevention, early intervention and community-based programs are taught the skills on how they can make a difference in their own lives and in their communities. All nine programs and services, recognized by the White House as a Point-of-Light Award recipient, are provided at no cost to the participants, their families, school districts or youth-serving professionals. Additional information on The Second Mile can be found at http://www.thesecondmile.org/. While NYSP is sports-based both at its core and in name, the summer program's goal is not playing but teaching proper behavior and citizenship using popular activities as a backdrop. NYSP carefully mixes athletics with educational programming. Typically, this portion of NYSP includes life-skills lessons plus instruction covering career opportunities, higher education and job responsibilities. NYSP strives to spark each participant's personal transformation into a positive, polished and productive adult who will walk tall, talk tall and stand tall to and through adulthood.
Loved this story about a Kansas City Royals fan selling his 25 years of loyalty on EBay for $278.47! How much would you sell your loyalty of the Pirates, Pens or Steelers?
